Dunkerque-Port selects two complementary industrial projects
At its annual press conference held on 20 January at the Cité des Échanges in Marcq-en-Barœul, Dunkerque-Port announced the winners of the Call for Expressions of Interest (CEI) launched to revitalise part of the brownfield site of the former SRD refinery. Two complementary industrial projects, led by Technip Energies and Tepsa, have been selected.
Two complementary industrial projects supporting the energy transition
- Technip Energies: sustainable aviation fuel as a key industrial lever
Technip Energies will build and operate a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production unit using second-generation ethanol. With an annual production capacity of 160,000 tonnes, this project will make a concrete contribution to the decarbonisation of strategic European industries, particularly in the aviation sector. - Tepsa: a new energy-focused logistics platform
Tepsa will develop and operate a new import-export terminal for liquid bulk. The project includes storage capacities dedicated to the battery manufacturing and recycling sector, as well as other energy transition industries. Tepsa will also handle all of Technip Energies’ maritime logistics. The terminal will offer a total storage capacity of approximately 145,000 m³.
A major investment for the Dunkirk territory
The project will be located on a 23-hectare site, including 20 hectares reclaimed from the former SRD refinery. The total investment is estimated at €1.7 billion and is expected to create around 300 full-time equivalent jobs. The maritime traffic generated by the new facilities is estimated at between 1 and 1.2 million tonnes per year.
A new milestone in industrial redevelopment
These projects reflect the strong industrial momentum of the Dunkirk territory and confirm Dunkerque-Port’s strategic role in the development of low-carbon energy sectors in North-West Europe. They represent a decisive new step in the successful redevelopment of the former SRD refinery site and in the construction of a high-performance, competitive and forward-looking industrial ecosystem.
