GRAVELINES: SNF LAUNCHES THE EXPANSION OF ITS PRODUCTION SITE
A MAJOR INDUSTRIAL PROJECT IN THE HAUTS-DE-FRANCE REGION
The SNF Group, a global player in the chemical industry specialising in polymers for water treatment, is continuing to expand in France. In Gravelines, the company is embarking on a new phase of expansion at its production site, thereby strengthening its presence in the Hauts-de-France region.

This industrial project confirms the growing importance of the site, which is already a strategic hub for the production of monomers used in the manufacture of water treatment solutions.
A €60 MILLION INVESTMENT IN GRAVELINES
The expansion of the SNF site represents an estimated investment of 60 million euros. This funding is intended to increase production capacity in order to meet rapidly growing global demand in the water treatment sector.
This development is part of a long-term industrial strategy designed to support market developments and secure production chains in Europe.
WHAT WILL BE THE IMPACT ON JOB CREATION AND THE LOCAL ECONOMY ?
Beyond the industrial implications, this expansion of the SNF site in Gravelines will have a direct impact on the local economy.
The project is expected to create around 40 additional jobs. Across the Dunkirk region, it contributes to the reindustrialisation drive and the economic appeal of the port area.
WHY IS THE GRAVELINES SITE STRATEGIC FOR SNF ?
Located in a key industrial zone on the northern coast, the Gravelines site occupies a strategic position for SNF. It forms part of a European production network where locally manufactured monomers are subsequently transformed into polymers used in numerous industrial applications.
This choice of location is largely driven by strong logistical considerations, as Philippe Fanucci highlights in his testimony :
“Dunkirk emerged as the best solution. Indeed, here we are close to Rotterdam, from where our main raw material arrives.”
This geographical positioning enhances the site’s appeal, particularly thanks to its proximity to major European logistics hubs such as Rotterdam.
The site was designed from the outset to evolve gradually, in line with the needs of the global market and the region’s logistics capabilities.
INDUSTRIAL MOMENTUM IN THE DUNKERQUE AREA
This expansion forms part of a wider trend of industrial development in the Dunkirk area and the Hauts-de-France region. The region is attracting significant investment thanks to its port infrastructure, its industrial base and its policies supporting reindustrialisation.
Gravelines is thus confirming its role as a major industrial hub, at the heart of the economic transformation of the northern coast.
