WORKING AND TRAINING AS A HEALTH PROFESSIONAL IN DUNKIRK

Whether you’re a medicine student or a practising health professional, Dunkirk welcomes you with arms wide open and offers you a  variety of subsidies as well as bespoke support  so that you can work as a health professional in Dunkirk.

A WARM WELCOME FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

The Greater Dunkirk Urban Council offers subsidies for self-employed practitioners who wish to move to the Dunkirk basin:

  • For those setting up for the first time, to help with the purchase of medical or IT equipment for the practice and work carried out within the practice. Cover for half the cost of the materials up to €10,000 and half the cost of the fit out work up to €20,000.
  • For self-employed nurses wishing to undertake advanced nursing training, the Greater Dunkirk Urban Council offers a subsidy of €10,000 per year, with a commitment to work as an advanced practice nurse in the area for 3 years.

MEDICINE STUDENTS

The Greater Dunkirk Urban Council also offers grants for future health professionals:

  • A subsidy to cover the cost of studies for young people admitted to study the Specific Access Health Course (PASS) and who have been resident in the territory for at least two years. The latter takes into account the household allowance scheme of France’s benefits office (CAF) (from €2,000 to €13,000 for the most economically deprived households).
  • A commitment scholarship of €10,000 per year for years two to five of the programme. In exchange, the student undertakes to settle in one of the municipalities in the area at the end of their training for a minimum of 5 years. This scholarship is intended for all students of medicine without any income or residence criteria.
  • A mobility grant (€130 per month of internship) for interns doing an internship in community medicine (i.e. outside a hospital setting) intended to cover the travel expenses of young people who are still in training, while allowing them to explore the region.

These grants can all be combined.

For its part, the Hauts-de-Flandre Greater District Council (CCHF) is also keen to encourage future practitioners to set up a practice in the area by providing mystery boxes for internship students working for a local practitioner. Three hot topics: sports, food and well-being, with entry tickets for tourism professionals and the region’s top facilities (Linéo, Belfry, etc).
