Global CCS European Meeting: Dunkirk, 28 January
Dunkirk hosts a key European Meeting on Industrial Decarbonisation
On 28 January 2026, Dunkirk hosted the Global CCS Institute’s Europe Member Meeting France, a major international event dedicated to carbon capture, storage and utilisation (CCS / CCUS) — recognised by the IPCC as a critical lever to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Key figures
- 100+ European industrial representatives
- 1 full day of high-level discussions
- 1 CCS site visit
- Industry, energy, finance and engineering leaders gathered in one place
Key discussion themes
Participants explored the main conditions required to scale up CCS deployment:
- status of French CCS projects,
- pathways to Final Investment Decisions (FID),
- policy and regulatory frameworks,
- financing, insurance and risk management,
- industrial implementation of CCS solutions.
“CCS is no longer optional — it is a prerequisite for deep industrial decarbonisation.”
A strong partnership
The event was supported by Club CO2, a partner of the meeting, of which ÉcosystèmeD is a member. Florence Delprat- Jannaud, Director of Energy Products, Business Unit and Club CO2 President, presented the status of French projects
Club CO2 brings together industrial, research and institutional stakeholders to:
- accelerate CCS and CCUS deployment,
- foster collaboration and knowledge sharing,
- support the development of concrete industrial projects,
- contribute to public policies on low-carbon transition.
Dunkirk, a European industrial hub
Hosting this event reinforces Dunkirk’s position as a strategic European hub for low-carbon industry, combining industrial expertise, infrastructure and ambition for climate action.
