Sebastien MONNET
ARRIVING IN OCTOBER 2021, SEBASTIEN MONNET, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF THE SNF FLOCRYL SITE, SHARES HIS THOUGHTS ABOUT LIFE IN DUNKIRK.
“I’m originally from Ardèche but I’ve moved a lot around in France and lived abroad because of my engineering studies at the Arts et Métiers engineering school and my career in the refining, plastic conversion and metallurgy sectors. Before coming to Gravelines, I had also spent 9 years in Indonesia where I looked after the construction and start-up of factories in Turkmenistan and Bangladesh. Then I was given the opportunity to become assistant director of the SNF site in Gravelines while still under construction. It’s a wonderful challenge that was difficult for me to turn down, all the more so because I loved the idea of settling in the Dunkirk area, the perfect place to travel around and discover Europe. I got here last October and I’ve settled in so well that I’ve just bought a house in Gravelines. I love watching the sunrises and their special light against the sea. This agglomeration also has an impressive number of facilities, including sports ones, which my sons and I are already enjoying. I also appreciate the free public transport. There’s also a great cultural dynamic which I hope to have time to discover in greater detail. In a while, once I’ve really got to grips with my new territory, I’d like to get fully involved in it, particularly by volunteering in the community sector. It is something that is close to my heart.”
