« We immediately felt at home in Dunkirk… »

“I’m Spanish, a native of Valencia where I studied to become a civil engineer. That’s where I met
my future wife, a French girl who had moved to Spain. Both of us thought we would make a life
for ourselves there. Except in 2008, the financial crisis hit my country and I had difficulty finding a stable job. As my French wasn’t too bad, I decided to look for work in France. Then, in 2011, I was recruited by Dunkirk-Port as design manager for its development projects. My wife,
a native of the Saône-et-Loire département, followed me. We immediately felt at home in Dunkirk where our three children were born. We have a very good relationship with our colleagues and very quickly we got to know people who have since become our friends. We like the town’s proximity to Belgium and England and we love living by the sea. We’re also really interested in the history of Dunkirk, which helps us to get to know its culture better. We bought a house in Coudekerque-Branche and although I do miss the sun in my home country, I’m really happy to be living in Dunkirk with the family I started here.”
