7TH EUROPEAN MEETINGS ON THURSDAY 2 OCTOBER 2025

The European Low Carbon, Industries and Territories Meetings (French REDIT for Rencontres Européennes Décarbonation, Industries et Territoires) return to Dunkirk for their 7th edition on Thursday 25 September 2025. This conference is a key event for the European industrial ecosystem committed to the transition towards carbon neutrality.

Launched at the initiative of the Greater Dunkirk Urban Council, Dunkirk Port, the Littoral Hauts-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry and major local industrialists, these meetings have been bringing together public, private and academic stakeholders for the last 6 years around a common challenge: the decarbonisation of European industry.

Upcoming programme

DUNKIRK, SPEARHEADING THE DECARBONISATION OF FRENCH INDUSTRY

The Dunkirk area emits 16 million tonnes of CO₂e annually, representing 20% of French industrial CO₂ emissions. Despite this significant carbon footprint, the region contributes 3.8 billion USD to the national GDP and supports 24,200 jobs.

Faced with this reality, a comprehensive strategy is being implemented to transform this challenge into an opportunity. Through the DKarbonation project, Dunkirk has joined the global “Transitioning Industrial Clusters” initiative supported by the World Economic Forum.

The goal is clear: achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 for the living area and by 2050 for the industrial platform. According to the EU roadmap, a substantial share of CO₂e emissions will be prevented annually by 2035. This ambitious transition is expected to generate lasting economic benefits, with 1.2 billion USD contributed annually to GDP in 2050 and a total of 31,950 jobs preserved and created.

AN EVENT GATHERING MANY STAKEHOLDERS AND COVERING MANY TOPICS

A platform for local, national and European dialogue

Launched 5 years ago, this event is based on a basic principle: there will be no successful industrial transition if there is no local cooperation.

The REDIT conference encourages dialogue between local authorities, industrialists, European institutions and experts. Together, they explore the different levers for decarbonisation and share their feedback, technological innovations and concrete solutions.

LOOKING BACK AT PREVIOUS EDITIONS

Over 6 years, the event has attracted more than 3,000 participants, including members of European institutions, policy makers, entrepreneurs, researchers, start-ups and providers of innovative solutions

More than 60 conferences and themed workshops have been organised around key levers for decarbonisation: hydrogen, CO2

capture, green taxation, technological innovations, local ecosystems: a real catalyst for practical cooperation and the sharing of good practices.

NET ZERO: DISCOVER THE AMBITIOUS GOAL OF THE DUNKIRK AREA

How the Dunkirk area is redesigning its reindustrialisation in order to be carbon neutral by 2050.

A challenge to create synergies with local authorities, regional economic stakeholders and citizens living in the area for a low-carbon industry.
