The territory of the Greater Dunkirk Urban Council has 21 communes and associated communes, and spans a surface area of 293.3 km². SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Secondary school begins at the age of 15. The communes of the Greater Dunkirk Urban Council (CUD) Dunkirk, Coudekerque-Branche and Grande-Synthe have 15 state and private schools offering different course choices: vocational college (offers vocational education in relation to business, in order to acquire skills in an occupation or trade), general and technology-based college, senior high school and agricultural college (education specialising in agriculture).
