COMMISSIONING OF THE REFUELLING STATION AT THE LNG TERMINAL

 

Ship owners, transport companies and manufacturers are increasingly choosing LNG as an alternative fuel. It not only reduces CO2 (carbon dioxide) and NOx (nitrogen oxide) emissions, but also considerably lowers air pollution by eliminating almost all particles and sulphur emissions. In light of this growing interest, the Dunkirk LNG terminal, property of Dunkerque LNG (whose major shareholder is the Belgian company Fluxys) decided to invest in the construction of a refuelling station.

It has been up and running since 1 June 2020 with an LNG loading capacity of 3,000 fuel trucks per year. “This project has successfully come to fruition thanks to our collaboration with the port of Dunkirk, one of our main partners in the development of this new service. With a capacity of almost 2,000 loading slots available from now until the end of the year, our first bay is ready to welcome clients”, acknowledges Juan Vazquez, chairman of Dunkerque LNG. Commissioned on 1 January 2017, Dunkirk’s LNG terminal has an annual regasification capacity of 13 billion m3,
