Discover a unique place: the Dunes of Flanders, designated a ‘Grand Site de France’
DID YOU KNOW ?
The Dunes de Flandre, a ‘Grand Site de France’, covers more than 1,000 hectares of natural habitats between Malo-les-Bains and Bray-Dunes. Awarded the ‘Grand Site de France’ label, it is renowned for the beauty of its landscapes and the richness of its biodiversity, with dunes, wetland plants and pioneer plants shaping a coastline in constant flux.
Among the iconic sites are the Dune Marchand (Leffrinckoucke), a national nature reserve, the Dune du Perroquet (Bray-Dunes) and the Dune Dewulf, which are home to rare birds, insects and plants. To protect this fragile environment, wooden fencing and marked trails guide visitors’ movements, allowing everyone to explore nature without disturbing it.
The CPIE Flandre Maritime, through its GNPV scheme (Volunteer Nature and Heritage Guide), offers guided walks all year round, providing a different way to explore these dunes: from wildlife spotting and discovering local plants to themed walks, these outings offer a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in this exceptional natural heritage.
