Contargo links Dunkirk to Valenciennes
Since mid-November the company CONTARGO has operated a waterway container shuttle between Dunkirk’s Flanders Terminal (TdF) and the inland ports of Valenciennes. During the startup phase CONTARGO is offering a weekly frequency and a rotation schedule fully synchronised with the Asia service that calls at Dunkirk every Tuesday. The development of this new service waterway container service is directly related to the setup, in September, of a system to spread the extra cost of waterway handling surcharge over all containers transiting through the terminal. This new solution for combined waterway transport in the region is in addition to the service provided by the operator NORD PORTS SHUTTLE (NPS) between Dunkirk, Lille and Dourges, and is helping to reinforce the role of Dunkirk as a regional gateway for container traffic in the north of France.
