Sponsored by the Dunkirk Urban Community, the ÉcosystèmeD building and its Innovation Park embody the transformation of the region, combining energy efficiency with multipurpose spaces for training and partnerships, and aiming to position Dunkirk at the forefront of energy transition, industrial ecology, and decarbonization.
- It is a comprehensive business and training park, providing technology halls to enable companies, start-ups, and students to experiment and innovate using resources specific to the Dunkirk region.
- It is a major research center for studying the feasibility of projects that will shape the region.
- The 5-hectare business park will house new commercial buildings for companies linked to the ÉcosystèmeD project, such as Grain de Sail, which specializes in low-carbon sailing transport.
A model building for energy efficiency and low-carbon construction
This new 4,400 m² building located in Dunkirk at Môle 2 embodies a new sustainable approach to construction and energy consumption:
- A positive energy building, covered with over 1,000 m² of photovoltaic panels (224 kWp), which produces more energy than it consumes and can supply other buildings in the urban area.
- Built in accordance with the E+C- label, it limits its carbon footprint thanks to low-carbon materials and innovative energy coverage.

ÉcosystèmeD, AN INNOVATIVE SPACE, EMBLEMATIC OF THE INDUSTRIAL TRANSFORMATION
To maintain momentum over the long term, part of the ÉcosystèmeD building is reserved for training. Two industrial-style technology halls, with 12-meter-high ceilings, are leased by the IMT Nord Europe engineering school.
- One of them is dedicated to collective use for the benefit of the urban area. It will house a Fab Lab and educational equipment on waste heat set up by the Université Littoral Côte d’Opale.
- The second hall houses a team of IMT teacher-researchers, who will open a new laboratory in Dunkirk. The latter will focus on local industrial issues and the emergence of research topics applied to these themes. Classrooms are being fitted out in connection with the opening in September 2025 of a training course on low-carbon energy.
The ÉcosystèmeD building also houses premises reserved for incubators, to generate and support the creation of businesses and start-ups around local themes.

Its showroom is designed to host one or more exhibitions. La Fabuleuse Factory, an event focused on the transformation of industry and its new professions, open to the general public and launched three years ago by the GIP, will permanently display part of its installations there. Industrial partners will also be able to use the space to showcase their innovations.
