class=\"c-wysiwyg\"><p><strong>The Port of Dunkirk<\/strong> is set to host one of Europe\u2019s most ambitious projects in the <strong>field of sustainable aviation fuels<\/strong> (SAF). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ten.com\/en\">Technip Energies<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airbus.com\/fr\/about-us\/our-worldwide-presence\/airbus-in-europe\/airbus-en-france\">Airbus<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.safran-group.com\/\">Safran<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/tereos.com\/en\/\">Tereos<\/a> have announced plans to establish the <strong>Rebound<\/strong> joint venture, which will develop a large-scale sustainable aviation fuel production facility in the Hauts-de-France region.<\/p>\n<p>The objective is clear: to produce up to <strong>160,000 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel<\/strong> (SAF) annually using<strong> Alcohol-to-Jet<\/strong> (<strong>AtJ<\/strong>) <strong>technology<\/strong>, positioning the future Dunkirk facility among the largest of its kind in Europe.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"addressing-the-challenges-of-aviation-decarbonisation\">Addressing the challenges of aviation decarbonisation.<\/h3>\n<p>The aviation sector faces a major challenge: drastically reducing its greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining growth. Sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) are now considered one of the most effective solutions for achieving this objective. Under the European ReFuelEU Aviation regulation, their share in aviation fuels must reach <strong>6% by 2030<\/strong> and gradually increase to <strong>70% by 2050<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>La technologie retenue par Rebound repose sur la <strong>transformation d\u2019\u00e9thanol avanc\u00e9<\/strong> issu notamment de r\u00e9sidus agricoles et forestiers en carburant a\u00e9ronautique compatible avec les infrastructures et les moteurs existants. Cette approche permet d\u2019acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer la<strong> transition \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique<\/strong> sans n\u00e9cessiter de modifications majeures des flottes actuelles.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"why-was-dunkirk-selected-for-this-strategic-project\">Why was Dunkirk selected for this strategic project?<\/h3>\n<p>The choice of the Port of Dunkirk for the project was far from accidental. The industrial hub provides significant logistical advantages for both the supply of raw materials and the distribution of the fuels produced. It also offers a favourable environment for the development of new industrial sectors supporting the energy transition..<\/p>\n<p>Beyond its local economic benefits, Rebound is part of a broader strategy aimed at <strong>strengthening Europe&#8217;s energy sovereignty.<\/strong> By developing an integrated value chain, from ethanol production to its final use in aviation, the four partners aim to create a fully European industry capable of meeting the growing demand for sustainable fuels.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"who-are-the-key-players-involved-in-the-rebound-project\">Who are the key players involved in the Rebound project?<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"63\">Each partner brings complementary expertise to the project:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"65\" data-end=\"369\">\n<li data-start=\"65\" data-end=\"148\"><strong data-start=\"67\" data-end=\"87\">Technip Energies<\/strong> will oversee project development and engineering activities.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"149\" data-end=\"267\"><strong data-start=\"151\" data-end=\"161\">Airbus<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"166\" data-end=\"176\">Safran<\/strong> will contribute to market development and could become future users of the fuels produced.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"268\" data-end=\"369\"><strong data-start=\"270\" data-end=\"280\">Tereos<\/strong> will secure the supply of advanced ethanol through its recognised expertise in biofuels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"371\" data-end=\"571\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">This collaboration demonstrates the ability of French and European industrial players to develop concrete solutions that accelerate the energy transition while strengthening their competitiveness.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"a-new-milestone-in-the-regional-energy-transition\">A New Milestone in the Regional Energy Transition<\/h3>\n<p>For the Hauts-de-France region and the Dunkirk area, this project further reinforces the region&#8217;s position as a leading hub for industrial decarbonisation.
