BREXIT : An opportunity for BAE SERVICE

30 July 2021The implementation of Brexit, the strategic location at the crossroads of the major cities of Northern Europe and the dynamism of the port of Dunkirk have convinced the Managing Director of BAE Service, who has just opened a branch in Dunkirk.

The status of approved customs service provider is very recent. Its main advantage is that it guarantees neutrality to customers, freight forwarders and consolidators, since it only carries out customs clearance formalities, unlike commission agents who are often also carriers. “My father, Sébastien Renault, has been working in maritime consolidation in Le Havre for a very long time. He regularly had unpleasant surprises when goods were cleared through customs by external service providers. So, when the status of customs-approved service providers was introduced in 2019, my father and I drew on our professional experience to create BAE service and launch ourselves into the business,” explains Esteban Renault, who is now the sole owner of the company.

Why Dunkirk?

The company seized the opportunity of Brexit. Indeed, the young Le Havre-based company was already carrying out customs clearance operations from their site for companies transiting through the port of Dunkirk. This is how the idea of opening a new office came about: “Even if the operations can be carried out ‘deported’, it is always better to be as close as possible to the clients. “This is just a stage”, the aim would be to relocate to larger premises as soon as the business has got off to a good start.
Based at the Créanor site in Coudekerque-Branche, BAE Service is now considering opening other branches in France. The company is currently looking for two people to strengthen the team in Coudekerque-Branche, with profiles for customs declarants.
